Lilies: Where Drama Meets Elegance

There is something undeniably sophisticated about lilies. Their dramatic trumpet-shaped blooms, intoxicating fragrance, and architectural beauty make them the choice for those who appreciate botanical grandeur. While roses are the romantics, lilies are the sophisticates of the flower world - refined, impressive, and impossible to ignore.

Our lily collection ranges from pure white arrangements perfect for sympathy, weddings, and elegant congratulations, to vibrant Stargazers with their spotted petals and show-stopping presence, to gentle Asiflorum varieties painted in sunset hues. Each variety brings its own character, but all share that unmistakable lily elegance.

One of the most remarkable things about lilies is how they continue to unfold - buds opening over several days, extending the joy of your gift well beyond the initial delivery. It is like giving a gift that keeps revealing itself. Fair warning though: if someone in the household has a sensitive nose, that famous lily fragrance can be quite powerful. Beautiful, but powerful.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Lilies

Are lilies safe for homes with cats?

Unfortunately, lilies are toxic to cats and can cause serious health issues if ingested. If you are sending flowers to someone with cats, we strongly recommend choosing an alternative like roses, sunflowers, or gerberas. Our customer service team can help you select a cat-safe alternative that is equally beautiful.

Why do lily buds not open?

Lily buds need time, warmth, and light to open. If your lilies arrive with closed buds, this is actually a sign of freshness - they will open over the coming days, extending the life of your arrangement. Place them in a warm room with indirect light and be patient. Cold environments can slow down the opening process significantly.

How do I prevent lily pollen from staining?

Lily pollen can indeed stain fabrics and surfaces. The easiest solution is to carefully remove the pollen-bearing anthers (the brown or orange bits at the end of the stamens) before the pollen matures. Do this when the flower first opens, using a tissue to gently pull them off. If pollen does get on fabric, do not rub it - let it dry completely and brush off with a soft brush.

What types of lilies do you offer?

We offer several lily varieties including elegant Oriental lilies (known for their large blooms and intense fragrance), Stargazers (with their dramatic spotted petals), Asiflorum hybrids (which combine the best qualities of Asian and Oriental types), and St Joseph Lilies (also known as Arum Lilies). Each variety has its own character and charm.

Are lilies suitable for sympathy occasions?

Yes, lilies are a traditional and appropriate choice for sympathy arrangements. White lilies in particular symbolise the restored innocence of the soul and are commonly used in funeral flowers and sympathy gifts. Their dignified beauty and peaceful presence make them a thoughtful choice when words are insufficient.

How long do lilies last?

With proper care, lilies can last 10-14 days - sometimes longer if you purchased them with buds that are still opening. Remove spent blooms as they fade to keep the arrangement looking fresh and to encourage remaining buds to open. Change the water regularly and keep them away from direct sunlight and fruit.
